Your data — stays on your phone.
Last updated: 25 May 2026 · Effective: from your first use of the app
What stays on your device?
All of the following information lives entirely in your phone's encrypted storage. It is never sent to any server, cloud, or third party:
- Yajmaan name, mobile number, address
- Pooja date, time, location, estimated and received dakshina
- Every income / expense entry — daily, monthly, yearly
- Your profile — name, city, traditional greeting, UPI ID, PIN, biometric settings
- Samagri templates (Gauri-Ganesh, Kalash, Satyanarayan, and your own custom ones)
- Devansh sankalp — your chosen percentage and the devansh portion of each pooja
What leaves the app, and when?
Only when you explicitly turn it on or grant permission:
- Google Drive backup — if you enable this, your full data file is stored in your own Google Drive's Hidden AppData folder. Only you can read it. The app uploads it in encrypted form, and the contents never come to us.
- Drik Panchang update — only tithi, nakshatra, and muhurat data is fetched from drikpanchang.com. No identifying information, location, or your data is sent there.
- Blessings counter and messages — if you send a blessing from the blessings screen, only your name and city (both optional) are added to the public counter and message list. No contact, financial, or private data is sent. Every message is moderated before publication.
- Travel-time estimate — in the post-pooja wizard step 2, if you ask for the next pooja's travel time, only the destination address is sent for geocoding. Your own location is never uploaded, and is discarded immediately after use.
Why are permissions requested?
Every permission has a clear reason. You can grant or revoke any of them via Settings → App Permissions:
- Notifications — to send reminders one day and two hours before a pooja. If turned off, no reminders will arrive.
- Microphone — for dictating notes / entries by voice (only when you press the mic button). Off by default.
- Location — only inside the post-pooja wizard step 2 to estimate travel time, and only at the moment you ask for it. Not stored.
- Storage / Files — to save or import a backup file. Only when you take that action yourself.
- Biometric / Face ID — if you choose to enable app-lock. Your fingerprint or face image is never seen by the app — only the device's verification result is received.
- Camera / Photo Library — declared in the iOS Info.plist because a Flutter framework dependency references the API. The Purohit UI does not surface camera or photo features.
Your rights
- Any time, Settings → Data → Erase all data — deletes all data in one tap, with no server confirmation required
- Export a local encrypted backup — your encrypted .prbk file stays in your control, with your password
- Disable Google Drive backup any time — and you can also delete past backup files from your own Drive
- The source code is open on GitHub — you can verify yourself that no data reaches us
Children's privacy
